It’s a special day today. Fu Wa and Feng Yi, who share the same date, month and year of birth, are 12 years old today.

As Fu Wa and Feng Yi turn 12, they also complete their first Chinese astrological cycle, an important milestone, especially for giant pandas.

It is also their fourth year living in Malaysia, four years in which they’ve produced two offsprings, both by natural mating: 3-year-old Nuan Nuan, female, born on 18 August 2015 and now living in Dujiangyan Panda Base, Sichuan, China, and 7-month-old Second Cub (my name for her as she still doesn’t have a name), also female, and now on exhibit with mummy in the Panda Complex at Zoo Negara Malaysia.
